About This Spot

Stepping into Dar Al-Atraqchi Cafe is like being gently transported into a quiet corner of Baghdad’s rich past, where time moves at an unhurried pace and every detail invites a pause. Nestled in the heart of Aljadrya, this café feels less like a commercial spot and more like a carefully curated living room — one filled with antique furniture, delicate woodwork, and the kind of worn-in charm that speaks to generations of stories shared over warm cups and curling smoke.

The atmosphere here is composed yet inviting, weaving together the soft murmur of conversation with the subtle hum of traditional melodies that often accompany evenings when a live singer takes the stage. It’s a place for lingering rather than rushing, where the scent of shisha mingles with the aroma of freshly brewed coffee, crafting an experience that feels both familiar and quietly special.

While the café embraces its Iraqi roots through its décor and vibe, it also offers a simple, approachable menu focused more on beverages and shisha — elements that encourage connection and reflection. Outdoor seating adds a breath of fresh air during warmer days, often accompanied by gentle breezes and the easy rhythm of friendly exchanges. The staff carry a relaxed hospitality that reinforces a sense of welcome and ease, making it a destination for both locals seeking a moment of calm and visitors curious about the city’s living traditions.

Dar Al-Atraqchi is not merely a café; it’s a space that honors the slower rhythms of Baghdad life, inviting you to find your seat, settle in, and soak in an ambiance where old meets present in a quiet, unassuming harmony.

Lovely place like old baghdadi places, with live singer on Mondays and thursdays, very nice atmosphere, but not good in food, i advise you go for beverages and shisha only, they serve beverages in disposable cups, which would be better to use glass. The price is very reasonable, I advise to save a nice spot on Mon and Thur to have view for the singer

Might just be the prettiest shisha spot in all of Iraq, no cap. The place looks like an art museum you can vibe in, clean, aesthetic, and peaceful. Staff? Super chill, even swapped currency for me when I was short in IQD. Shisha smacks, food truck outside, outdoor seating with Fans… hands-down 10/10 spot to unwind. Great hospitality for real

Dar Al-Atraqchi Cafe is a charming spot with a great atmosphere, filled with beautiful antique pieces that give it a unique and historic feel. It has a lot of potential to become a top tourist attraction, but a bit more attention to cleanliness and improved service would make a big difference. The setting is already impressive, and with some extra care, it could truly stand out. Still, it’s a nice place to experience a bit of Baghdad’s heritage over a cup of tea.

The architecture of this café located in al Jadriya district in Baghdad reminds you of the old authentic Baghdadi culture! even when you step inside and sit there, you still be fascinated of the details in the design of the building to the tables, chairs and even the staff who works there! in my opinion its a must see place because its more than regular cafe!

I think it’s needless to say that Dar Al-Atraqchi is one of the best looking cafes in Baghdad. Very picturesque and It has that authentic Baghdadi style to it in addition to it being filled with antiques, paintings, gorgeous vintage details and books (and i saw some cards and chess boards as well!). The menu could use a lot of work especially the drinks and pastries. All in all, it’s a must visit if you’re in Baghdad!
